Clara Barton High School
This two-year program is approved by the New York State Education Department and leads to a Practical Nursing certificate, as well as a high school diploma, for successful graduates.
To be eligible for the program, you must have completed three prerequisite credits in Health Occupations Education and Career and Financial Management, and have a cumulative average of 75%. Curtis High School
This two-year program is designed specifically for Curtis High School students starting in their junior year and aims to prepare students for NYS Certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
During the program, students will learn basic nursing skills to promote and maintain wellness. They’ll be taught how to address the basic needs of individuals and will cover topics such as anatomy and physiology, human growth and development, fundamentals of nursing, and principles of pharmacology. The curriculum also includes nursing interventions for common health problems, as well as advanced nursing skills for clients in the acute and residential care settings.
